funny memory for you prego moms.

When I was 8 months pregnant Maddy started having nightmares and only mom could make her better.  So I would have to go into her room and calm her down.  Then she decided that I should lay down with her (yes in her toddler bed that has only a 12 inch opening to climb into it).  One morning Brian woke up and I was missing so he came into Maddy’s room to find me asleep, wedged between my daughter and the bed rails.  I was so stiff that Brian had to pick me up to get me out!!

I am so glad that she has a full size bed now (no we don’t sleep with her, but story time is much more fun in bed with her).  We have been considering #3 and how to do sleeping arrangements if we go down this road (more honestly if God takes us down this road).  I can not even imagine Madelyn and Lydia sharing a room and having bunk beds!  I wonder if we can teach them to share a bed?  What do you do if you do have bunk beds and the kid in the top throws up? ick.  We have a day bed and trundle, but really I am not into making and pushing the bed under, but maybe that is the answer….or maybe we do put maddy in the basement bedroom!  Anyway, we don’t have to think about that now, as it isn’t an issue, but that is what brought up the fat lady memory!  Happy baby belly to you all.

HAHAHA Good story! About the bedroom situation, couldn’t you do two twin beds and then when they are older put them into bunk beds? My older sister and I shared a queen bed for many years. I was a bed wetter though, so I am not too sure that she appreciated it! (although I’m convinced its because I was cold because she hogged the blankets). Luckily for Patrick I outgrew that stage!

Tara and Finn says:

HeHe! Patrick is one lucky guy that you out grew that Mindy!!!

We are playing with somewhat the same idea right now just about having baby #2 and our house size. We currently have 3 bedrooms but one is Tim’s office which is not optional in our lives. He did build a shed in the back yard that could be his office but when he works so late and through the evening, it’s nice to have him within shouting distance so I can get some help when needed. Our option in this house would then be to have the baby and Finn share a room….I know it would be frustrating for Finn in the beginning I’m sure but they learn to sleep through things I would think. I guess we could put the crib in our room and share our room….just hope that they aren’t loud! Who knows…..people shared rooms and beds until recently so it can obviously be done and done fine…. :) It’s all so overwhelming!!!!

When I was a kid I dreamed of having bunk beds. But my sisters each had their own room so I really had no one to bunk with. And today they make bunk beds are even cooler!! When we lived in Eau Claire, our house was the sized of a postage stamp. Petey had his crib in the living room as there was only one bedroom. Now having his own room is such a grand thing. Everything can always be figured out with sleeping arrangements so go ahead….have those babies!

Colleen says:

My parents had a 2 bedroom house and 3 little ones. My father built a very sturdy bunk bed for his two oldest monkeys(little girls are really part monkey) and the 3rd stayed in her crib initially and eventually a twin bed for her and the bunks for the older two. So they had all 3 in one room, a pair of bunk beds and a twin bed. As far as the puking, I remember being sick but I think I simply kept a pail with me then. The only really ‘bad’ thing was one night rolling out of bed and falling but my stuffed animals caught me fine, ‘See mom I told you they belonged next to the bed’. Now eventually they remodeled the upstairs and cut the bunk in half and put us up there, I think I was 7-9 years old then. Eventually we moved out to the farm and had out own bedrooms but we still had our original ‘bunk beds’ that had been cut in half as our beds through our teen years.
